We are looking for ways to bring an argument of reintegration of Theory and Technology in Architecture back to the discussion table. As an institution concerned with innovation and technology, it is only natural to deal with the challenge.

 

Premise

 

This is a vertical Studio that focuses on the interaction of Architectural Theory and Technology. The range of research goes from Theory Research papers as well as technical papers about digital fabrication, AV, VR, artificial intelligence and machine learning. Part of the Lab could be a discussion about Architectural Theory in a moment where there is a possible shift in the discursive focus at the anthropocene, post-anthropocene, post-singularity, and post-digital eras.

 

The goals of this Lab are the following:

1. Design and Research using the latest of digital technology as the vehicle to achieve innovation. The importance of reintegrating theory and technology in a new type of practice for the 21st century.

2. Invite the most notable architects today dealing with issues of technology and performance to participate in research and teaching.

3. Material Research. A natural path following design research is the investigation of new materials that will contribute to the concept of performative integration.

4. Develop new research programs in architecture and technology.

5. Organize nationally and internationally conference that will discuss results and proposals with design and technology professionals interested and/or involved in the field.
